Don't Forget to Recharge This Spring Break

When you’ve been working hard for months on end, pushing yourself from one deadline to the next—spring break is definitely a welcomed time away from your regular routine to reset and recharge. But whether you’re headed somewhere warm to escape a lingering winter or are simply hitting the pause button during a low-key staycation—it can be easy to get wrapped up in trying to pack in as much as possible and ultimately exhausting yourself in the process.

Here’s how to stay away from a non-stop kind of spring break and why you should, instead, focus on checking these 6 self-care boxes to make sure you unwind, rebalance, and return from spring break recharged from the daily grind and return to work or school feeling refreshed.

1. Actually Take Time Off

Since our work and home lives have easily become integrated thanks to modern technology—make sure you literally disconnect from work. Turn off notifications and alerts on your laptop and phone and move work apps (like email, project management, and chat platforms) into a separate ‘folder’ so that they are out of sight. You will be far more productive when you return to work if you give yourself permission to take quality time off.

2. Soak Up Some High-Quality Sleep

Don’t lose valuable sleep hours if you’re traveling across time zones on your spring break. Give yourself a leg up with Drift & Dream CBD + Melatonin Capsules to ensure you wake up feeling refreshed, restored, and ready for your relaxing spring break days. Plus, spring break is a great opportunity to reinvent your sleep routine—and while it might be tempting to stay up late and sleep in, you’ll feel refreshed and calm now and when you return to your daily routine.

3. Spring Clean Your Newsfeed & Your Schedule

While scrolling through your newsfeed might feel a bit like an escape—it actually drains mental resources and dials down clarity. Make some time to unsubscribe and unfollow anything that doesn’t add value to your life. And while you’re at it, take a look at ways you can simplify your schedule—are there things you can let go of? Are you over-committed? Jot down your list of ideas to simplify while you have the headspace to do so (AKA while sipping your latte at that cozy cafe!).

4. Indulge Your Long-Lost Hobbies

While the hustle and bustle of life make those crafting or musical ambitions take a back seat—spring break is an ideal time to give yourself a mental vacation by either engaging in your long-lost hobbies or trying something completely new! It will awaken your creativity and allow you to indulge in something just for fun.

5. Re-energize Your Body

When you’re feeling exhausted it can be tempting (and understandable!) to simply laze about all day. But physical activity whether you stretch, swim, run, walk, do yoga—can help you recharge your personal batteries which, in turn, energizes your mind and body. And if you’re incorporating a hike, walk, or some biking—make sure you pack some travel-sized CBD in your backpack to invigorate your body while you see the sights at a slower pace.

6. Strategize Your Re-Entry

While it’s important to switch off completely from work and day-to-day demands, take some time to consider your reintegration post-vacation. If you are flying home, consider coming back a day early to give yourself time to adjust before work the next day, build in time to comb through emails from home so that you’re not overwhelmed at work, or review your work and personal calendar and get yourself into the headspace of what’s coming up.

Spring break isn’t something just for students to partake in—use it as your opportunity for renewal and recharge and take a break that is not just a much-needed reprieve from the daily grind—but one that leaves you feeling completely refueled both mentally and physically.
