Will I Gain Weight Using CBD Products?

If you’ve ever considered taking CBD, you might have wondered in the back of your mind, “That’s great, but won’t I get the “munchies” and start to gain weight?” Fortunately, using CBD doesn’t mean you have to accept an expanding waistline in exchange. Why? Because CBD does not stimulate appetite.

If you’ve ever considered using a CBD product, you might have wondered in the back of your mind, “That’s great, but won’t I get the “munchies” and start to gain weight?” Fortunately, using CBD doesn’t mean you have to accept an expanding waistline in exchange. Why? Because CBD does not stimulate appetite.

The reason for this is not only because CBD won’t get you high (that’s one of THC’s jobs, a chemical compound found in the marijuana plant), but also because of the way it interacts with the human body’s endocannabinoid system.

The endocannabinoid system is a master regulator that helps to keep the body balanced and this includes energy balance and digestion, as well as carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Because CBD acts like a lock and key power couple with the endocannabinoid system, this means that this system (which regulates immune, nervous and digestive systems) is directly connected to rebalancing some areas of the body involved in weight management.

The chemical compound THC, on the other hand, is said to stimulate appetite in some users (hence the “munchies”) similarily because of how it interacts with the endocannabinoid system and which is one of the primary reasons weight can be gained in the process.

And finally, if you’ve ever heard of “emotional eating” you’ll know that when we get overwhelmed or feel like we’re under pressure, it’s quite common to overeat. How this relates to CBD is that because it elevates your mood, it indirectly helps to support a balanced weight.

There’s no question that maintaining a healthy weight is an essential part of living an enjoyable life, and there is a multitude of factors that can contribute. CBD is one such factor that has been shown to be supportive in bringing mind and body back to balance. But as with any approach, make sure you find something that works for you, is all-natural with no nasty side-effects and contributes to your wellbeing in a holistic way.
